Dining Facility
OVERVIEW
The new single-story 18,000 sf dining facility achieved a LEED Silver rating and is capable of serving 500 soldiers three meals per day/seven days a week. The dining area is 6,000 sf with the kitchen and server area encompassing 12,000 sf. The sub-structure is a spread footing foundation, which will support light gauge metal trusses over the dining area and structural joist and desk over the kitchen area. The exterior façade is a combination of masonry, stucco, and blast-resistant windows and doors. The interior of the facility includes carry-out area, dry storage, walk-in refrigerators and freezers, salad bars, dessert bars, deli bar, and a dining area. The method of delivery was design-build and was managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The project was design and built utilizing Bentley Microstation BIM. Bentley Microstation is the preferred BIM software of many district offices of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
